Early Life: Helen Keller was born on June 27, 1880, in Tuscumbia, Alabama. At just 19 months old, she became deaf and blind due to an illness, which made communication extremely difficult during her early childhood.

Breakthrough with Anne Sullivan: Helen’s life changed when her teacher, Anne Sullivan, began working with her. Sullivan taught Helen how to communicate using hand signals and spelled words into her palm. The famous breakthrough came when Helen understood that the word “water” referred to the liquid flowing over her hand.

Education & Writing: Helen Keller went on to attend college and became the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. She became a writer and speaker, authoring books such as The Story of My Life, sharing her experiences with the world.

Advocacy & Legacy: Helen Keller became a powerful advocate for people with disabilities. She traveled the world giving speeches and promoting education and accessibility. Her determination and achievements continue to inspire millions today.
