James Madison
Life & Historical Narrative
Early Life: James Madison was born on March 16, 1751, in Port Conway, Virginia. He studied at Princeton University, where he developed a deep interest in government, law, and political philosophy.
Constitution: Madison played a central role in drafting the United States Constitution and is often called the "Father of the Constitution." He also co-authored the Federalist Papers, arguing for ratification of the Constitution.
Presidency: He served as the 4th President of the United States from 1809 to 1817. During his presidency, the War of 1812 occurred.
Later Life: After leaving the presidency, Madison retired to his Montpelier estate in Virginia and continued to write and participate in public affairs until his death in 1836.
