Early Life: George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He became a surveyor and joined the Virginia militia, gaining early military experience. Washington developed a strong sense of leadership and civic duty that would define his career.
Revolutionary War: Washington was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army in 1775. He led American forces to victory against the British, including the decisive triumph at Yorktown in 1781. His perseverance, strategic thinking, and ability to inspire troops were key to American independence.
Presidency: Washington served as the 1st President of the United States from 1789 to 1797. He established many critical precedents, including forming a presidential cabinet and promoting the peaceful transfer of power. Washington guided the new nation through challenges such as domestic unrest and foreign diplomacy.
Later Life: After leaving office, he retired to his Mount Vernon estate in Virginia, focusing on farming and local civic duties. He remained active in public life through correspondence and advice to leaders. Washington passed away on December 14, 1799, leaving a legacy as the βFather of His Country.β
