Life & History
Early Life: Dwight David Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890, in Denison, Texas. He was raised in Abilene, Kansas, in a large family and developed strong leadership and teamwork skills in his youth.
Military Career: Eisenhower attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and rose through the ranks to become a five-star general during World War II. He served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe and oversaw the D-Day invasion of Normandy.
Presidency (1953–1961): Eisenhower became the 34th President of the United States. His administration is known for maintaining Cold War stability, expanding the interstate highway system, promoting civil rights, and managing postwar economic growth.
Later Life: After leaving office, Eisenhower retired to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where he wrote memoirs and focused on public service until his death on March 28, 1969.
