Early Life: Charles Robert Darwin was born on February 12, 1809, in Shrewsbury, England. He came from a family of physicians and scientists and developed a keen interest in natural history at a young age.
Education & Voyage: Darwin studied medicine and theology before focusing on natural history. He embarked on a five-year voyage aboard HMS Beagle (1831–1836), observing diverse species and ecosystems across South America and the Galápagos Islands.
Theory of Evolution: His observations led him to propose the theory of evolution by natural selection, published in his landmark book On the Origin of Species in 1859. This work transformed biology and the understanding of life on Earth.
Later Life & Legacy: Darwin continued his research and experiments, focusing on plants and animals. He passed away on April 19, 1882, and is buried in Westminster Abbey, honored as one of the most influential scientists in history.
